Wedding Cakes in Denmark
The traditional Danish wedding cake is known as the 'cornucopia' cake, made from marzipan rings, almonds and pasturage. It is decorated with candles and sugar work of flowers and birds, and filled with treats such as candy, fresh fruit and almond paste. The shape of the cornucopia is based on the Horn of Plenty.
Traditionally, the happy couple usually cut the cake together to ward off bad luck. The guests, then all eat a piece.
Another Danish wedding custom is to build an arch of pine branches. This is called the Gate of Honor.
